Charlie Benisch
2023 | Colorado | BOYS
HTB | Hawks | BOYS
Charlie Benisch is being selected for the HTB for his leadership on and off the ice. This will be Charlie’s second year with the program and has become an instant leader for our program. Last season it was clear from the get go that Charlie was going to be the player in the locker room that would bring everyone together. It is tough for these teams to come together in such a short season but Charlie helped our team quickly. On the ice Charlie is another coach on the ice helping direct players and being the quarterback of the team. When on the bench he is always being positive especially towards teammates when they knew they had a rough shift. Charlie was also one of the players who pushed the coaches to call up a JV player with autism to varsity games and pushed even harder to get him on the ice in the right situations. Charlie always comes to the rink with a positive and fun attitude and that carries over to our team. He also always remains cool, calm, and collected no matter the situation of games and will even do his best to diffuse situations during games with referees and opponents, whether it’s just calm talking or even joking around with them.
Charlie is a player who exemplifies the characteristics of the Hobey Baker Award with leadership and making sure every player is having fun and feels included as part of the team. Charlie does not care the players skill level or even who they played for in the winter. He wants what is best for the team and will be the leader of HTB 2023.
