Charlie Ankeny
2018 | Minnesota | BOYS
Blake School | Bears | BOYS
Charlie Ankeny is a four year letter-winner in boys hockey and has been an integral part of the team’s culture both on and off the ice. On the ice Charlie is one of our captains, as selected by his teammates and coaches. He was one of our top scorers as a junior before moving to defense this season. A move presented to him to help our team as a whole. Charlie gains the respect of his team by his work ethic, and the way he plays a very clean and honest game. Charlie earned all-conference accolades as a junior and advanced to Final 54s of HP 16s as a sophomore.
Off the ice, Charlie is Blake’s Student Body President, carries a 3.96 G.P.A., and is a multi-sport athlete in excelling in boys soccer, where he was a team captain and named All-Metro. Academically, he is an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Commended Scholar. This past summer, he was one of 3 high school students selected out of 200+ applicants to teach at Learning Works. There were 40 faculty members in total. Learning Works is a unique partnership between Blake and Minneapolis Public Schools. They offer programs for students from under-resourced communities on their paths to college. He is a member of Blaker’s Dozen, our school’s a capella singing group, and is a business manager for our school newspaper, Spectrum.
