Hurricanes Sled Hockey | Jr. Hurricanes | COED

Chance was one of the original Jr. players when the Hurricanes Sled Hockey program was formed, and our first Jr. goalie. In the past few seasons, the coaches have watched Chance grow tremendously as a player, a teammate, a leader, and an outstanding young man. After all of the players who had been leaders on the Jr. team aged out and moved on to our adult team, Chance stepped up and filled that leadership gap, both on and off the ice. In the process, he was instrumental in leading his team to a Championship in the 2022 USA Hockey National Disabled Hockey Festival in Pittsburgh, PA.

Chance is always respectful of his coaches and responsive to their instruction. He is kind and supportive of his teammate while simultaneously holding them accountable. Chance is a fierce competitor in net, but is always careful to be gracious to his opponents both in victory and defeat. In this way, we felt as though he exhibits the traits which the Hobey Baker Highschool Character Award requires and is our choice for nomination this season.
