There is much to be said about Brelee’s work ethic, athletic ability, determination and the list could go on and on. However, I believe her biggest attribute she brings to our team is her character. It is something to recognize her for not only on the ice but off as well. Not many people realize how difficult it is to be the lone senior on a team with many new and young players to Varsity hockey. Each season Brelee has been in net has been difficult, as we are currently in transition years and numbers were down for some time. She’s part of the reason numbers in the youth program are coming back, the reason youth players look up to her and the reason our team has been able to maintain a Varsity squad in Crookston. Her genuine smile and positivity is contagious. Brelee’s poise, attitude, outlook and positivity she brings each day is that of a true leader. It is one thing to lead on the ice but to be a leader off the ice is what really counts. She pushes her teammates to be better in the classroom, for that is what is most important. For all of this, I commend her. Not many girls could handle the role she has been given and Brelee has certainly taken the Senior/Captain role to an entire new level we can all look up to.
