Barry, played two years of JV his sophomore and junior year and the prospects of him playing varsity his senior year were unknown. He worked hard and refocused in the off-season and put himself in a position to make the team, but it was still unclear if he would make the cut. On the final day of tryouts during the team’s traditional Blue and Gold game Barry shined scoring two goals securing his place on the varsity hockey team. Now that he had made the team, the next challenge would be earning playing time. There was no guarantee that Barry would play or even dress. Starting on the fifth line Barry brought tons of energy to the first couple scrimmages. He soon earned his playing time and never looked back. He hard work and energy was infectious, his work ethic inspired our team identity. He became a leader and a role model. The came to define the character we are looking for in our student-athletes, overcoming obstacles and inspiring others.
