Ayla joined a still rebuilding team that hadn’t made the playoffs in several years. In the locker room after her first game, a shutout loss, the coaches told the team that our goal was to make the playoffs. Ayla spoke up and said that we would win the championship. Everyone noticed, and she led the team as a co-captain through the season and into a huge upset in the semi finals, where our 4th place team beat the 1st place team, and into the Championship game. Always positive, always the hardest worker on the ice, playing hard and leading right up until the final buzzer every game. She set the example for the younger players, on and off the ice, and left the team better than she found it last October.
