Austin embodies the spirit of this award. He selflessly plays his position and helps the younger players adapt to the game. As one of my core defensemen, he is like having an extra coach on the ice. He never gets down on his teammates and plays the game fairly and competitively. Unfortunately, he suffered a season ending concussion late in the season but continued to attend practice when he was allowed to by the doctor and attended every game supporting the team throughout the final 6 games. He has also been selected to be my Captain next season.
