At the beginning of the season, and with this being my first year as head coach, I asked all the players who want to turn in a letter stating why he or she should be selected as a team captain.  Andrew’s letter emphasized that the most important aspect that he felt the team needed and he could contribute most to was ‘team unity.’  In addition to being a solid, all around player, I was hesitant to select a junior to be a team captain.  After discussions with my assistant coaching staff, I can recall this being said numerous times:
