Alex Tapia’s journey is a clear example of what the Hobey Baker High School Character Award represents. Early in his high school career, Alex faced adversity as his size limited his opportunities at the varsity level. Instead of allowing that to define him, he committed himself to growth—developing his strength, refining his game, and embracing the challenge head-on.

Through hard work and determination, Alex transformed into a player who not only competes at a high level but excels. More importantly, he has become a leader on and off the ice. He leads by example with his work ethic, supports his teammates, and consistently demonstrates sportsmanship and respect for the game.

Alex’s love for hockey is evident in everything he does, and his positive attitude and resilience have made a lasting impact on our program. He has been a pleasure to coach and truly embodies the belief that character builds excellence.

Alex Tapia is highly deserving of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
