Countdown to Hobey:

Alex Breyen

2016 | Michigan | BOYS

Lakeshore\/St. Joseph | LSJ Warriors | BOYS

My name is John Koehler. I have been a private and public school teacher in the State of Michigan for twenty-five years and a youth hockey coach for the past fifteen years. Over the years I have enjoyed working and helping hundreds of students and athletes achieve their goals and pursue their ambitions. It is an honor to write this letter for Alex Breyen as he is one of the finest student/athletes I’ve known.  Alex is our high school Varsity Lakeshore/St. Joseph hockey team captain in his senior year.  As the team’s best two way player he also plays unselfishly and leads the league in assists. This year he most likely will be selected for All-Conference honors.  Alex is a natural leader in stature and leads by both his words and by his example. His work ethic seems tireless, he’s always positive with teammates, and goes the extra mile.  Alex never gives less than 100% effort, is respectful, and always willing to listen to instruction and learn. As a teammate Alex has a great presence on the ice and with his sense of humor and personality he is popular and well liked off the ice also.  Even as a senior and captain of the team Alex never misses an opportunity to help, even if it’s picking up pucks or filing water bottles.  Alex also excels in academics and possesses the same work ethic towards his studies.
