Alek is a two year member of the Allen Park High School Varsity Hockey team. For two years he has committed himself to the team and the program has a whole. He was voted, by his peers to be the single captain of the team. He received a first or second place vote from every player on the team, the only player to do that since i have been coaching. This alone says a lot about who Alek is as a person first and a player second, when you are that well respected and thought of by your teammates. He was also the unanimous selection by the coaching staff as well. Alek has always shown the leadership and character that is required to be successful in life after hockey. This year alone he continues to lead his team day in and day out and never wavers from the moral values he has learned from his strong family life. Alek has also taken the lead on all of the charity / benefit activities that our team has participated in including the breast cancer awareness game and most recently the Cystic Fibrosis Benefit that we as a team and the local Police and Fire department will participate it. This year is the first year of the Cystic Fibrosis game to support the family of a young man in 9th grade at the high school who lost his battle with the diseases. Again Alek was chosen as the spokesperson from the team to address the family and did so well. This type of young man sometimes goes unappreciated because of his modest demeanor. That in most cases in not fair and for that reason i believe with all my heart that he exemplifies this award. I cannot think of another person that is more deserving of this award.
