Diar Setoodeh
2026 | Arizona |
Brophy College Preparatory | Broncos |
Diar since his time at Brophy has been a young man that wears many hats. Earnest about just about everything he does, it’s hard to not be excited for him when he begins speaking about something as mundane (at least to me) as taking photos of cars. The spirit of Diar is one of what I might call a cogent optimism. Since the beginning of the season, he has found a myriad of ways to inspire the guys on the bench, but also showcase the goodness of our team to other coaches and refs: shaking hands, offering a kind word at the faceoff dot, chatting with players after the game. It’s funny as a coach to watch him play: standing at over 6 feet, 200+ pounds, he is surely scary to go up against. But really, he is just a big ol teddy bear. He loves deeply; he supports others well; and in (not so) rare cases, he will help someone up after making a hit. He’s a great captain and wonderful young man who is very much deserving of the Hobey Baker Award.
