Sam is the most deserving player I have ever coached for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. At 5’5″, he has faced challenges that many goaltenders never have to consider, yet he has never once used his size as an excuse. Instead, he has worked relentlessly to earn every opportunity he’s received.

After spending the last two seasons on JV, Sam stepped into a varsity role this year and immediately proved he belongs. His commitment to improvement and preparation is unmatched—his work ethic, attention to detail, and daily approach are truly rare for a high school athlete.

Even more impressive than his ability on the ice is who Sam is off it. He is the ideal teammate and leader: coachable, dependable, and consistently focused on doing things the right way. He elevates the culture in our locker room through his integrity, maturity, and the respect he shows to coaches, teammates, opponents, and officials. Sam embodies everything this award represents—character, excellence, sportsmanship, and a genuine love for the game.
