I recommend Tyler Horton for the Hobey Baker Character Award. Tyler is the captain on the Pueblo County High School Hockey Team. Our team graduated 10 seniors last season and have a relatively young team this season with 11 new players being exposed to high school hockey for the first time. Tyler is one of two remaining seniors on the team and his leadership has been important for the onboarding of new players and commitment in support of the team culture. He has made it point to connect with each new player to make them feel welcomed, comfortable and valued. His teammates look up to him as a positive role model. Tyler has worked to help build the confidence of the new players and has demonstrated leadership through the example he leads. Through this process Tyler has become a valuable extension of the coaching staff and has quickly become that player that his teammates can count on.

Tyler has demonstrated leadership through his play and happens to be our leading scoring. His contributions on ice have been critical to the success of our team this season. While enjoying success on the ice, Tyler has also illustrated the importance of being a good student and has been recognized by being an honor student at his school.

In closing I believe that Tyler represents the qualities worthy of the Hobey Baker Character Award nomination. I highly recommend Tyler for this award.
