Finn Donovan
2026 | Maryland | COED
Annapolis High School | Panthers | COED
Finn Donovan is an outstanding ice hockey player and a fine young man in many ways. He is a superb leader as he demonstrated during his time playing for and being Captain of the Annapolis/Arundel High School Varsity hockey team. He has played on the varsity for all 4 years. His commitment to the team, with his excellent play and willingness to help and lead all his teammates both on and off the ice, shows how special he is. Finn was always willing to
do whatever it took to help the team.
Finn is demonstrating both commitment and excellence in the classroom and on the ice. His work ethic and
integrity are without question. I depend on him to lead the team through his play and demeanor both
on and off the ice. He is an inspiration to the team, and he was a major and essential contributor to our team winning
the MSHL Eastern Conference Championship this past year.
Finn’s leadership and commitment to excellence was not limited to ice hockey, but also lacrosse and other sports
as well as his dedication to his education and community service. He was a superb honor student. He also demonstrated his excellence by being a member and advocate for improving the mental health of athletes. He is also
in the local community “one love” club which advocates for healthy relationships. He is part of the
social leadership team for “one love” and being their photographer. Finn also leads and participates in other
community volunteer activities. Finn has always been very active in a variety of ways, including raising
money for several charities.
His commitment to excel in the classroom, sports and in the community demonstrated his dedication
and determination to be the best that he can be to himself as well as to his family, high school, friends and
community. As I stated earlier, Finn is an inspiration to others. Finn never sees obstacles but rather challenges to overcome and opportunities to be successful. His self-determination was evident in the way he took it upon himself to improve as a person and player every year.
Most of all, it was Finn’s integrity as a person, which is the highest praise that I can give any individual.
His moral compass and ethics are unquestionably in the right direction. My highest regard for any
individual is their integrity. Finn has the integrity, respect, leadership and “right stuff” to be a truly outstanding recipient of the Hobey Baker Character Award.
