Gina is the ultimate example of sportsmanship and being an outstanding teammate. Prior to freshman year, Gina had played two years of hockey as a forward. Before her freshman season Gina knew we only had one goalie, so she decided to get equipment and tryout as a backup goalie. Gina just wanted to be part of the team, never expecting to get into a game. Gina played about 7 minutes as a freshman. Sophomore and junior years Gina played as both our only JV goalie and our backup varsity goalie, sometimes both in the same day. Junior year she played a full varsity game and earned the win. Gina always has a smile on her face and is cheering on and encouraging her teammates. She has worked hard to improve as a goalie just in case we needed her in a varsity game. We were able to have a JV team for two years because of her willingness to help the program. Gina was voted one of the captains by her teammates and coaches for her senior year. She has been a great captain, continuing to encourage and support her teammates, and demonstrating good sportsmanship to all opponents and officials.
