Justine started playing for us as an 8th grader and from day 1 she bought into all things Varsity Ice Hockey. She came in playing forward, but at the time we had a lot of forwards and needed more defense. Justine was more than open to learning the new position and doing whatever was best for her team. Over the years she continued to do that. Working hard both on and off the ice to continue to up her game, each year wanting to play forward but staying on defense until this year, as a senior captain she was able to transition back to forward where she is excelling. She’s leading her team in points, demonstrates an impressive universal player game play and so much more. Justine is not only a force on the ice she’s an incredible young woman off. She leads her team with pride, integrity and determinations. On top of that she is also one of the most inclusive players and young adults to come through the program. Always making sure everyone feels welcomed, stepping up in our youth skills programs, demonstrating how to be a leader when we worked in collaboration with the Boston Bear Cubs. I cannot recommend Justine enough for the Hobey Baker award, she truly embodies all that this award stands for.
