Lucey has been a five-year starter for the Spuds and in that time, she has compiled quite the resume. Career stats of 21goals, 62 assists for 83 points rank her 5th All-time in career scoring among Spud defensemen. In addition, she was an outstanding defender. She played against the other team’s top players more often than not and performed at an extremely high level. But that’s not why she deserves this award. Lucey has a quiet demeanor, but she is a fierce competitor with an elite level work ethic and always wants what’s best for the team & others first. The success of the team was always more important to her than any individual accolade. She was a captain her Senior season for that reason and led by example her entire career. Never without a smile, she simply enjoyed being at the rink and with her teammates. She was looked up to and respected by everyone she encountered and her kind, polite personality will take her far in life. She will attend the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and play hockey for the Falcons. In our opinion, she is the definition of character and is very deserving of this award.
