Gabe Horsman exemplifies the spirit of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award through coachability, integrity, teamwork, and genuine service to others. As the goaltender for Beavercreek High School and our Assistant Team Captain, Gabe is listed in the Ohio High School Athletic Association record books for both single-season and career saves and will graduate as our program’s record holder in save percentage and goals-against average. In fact, his 91 save performance in a state playoff game earned him a spot in the top 6 all-time for saves by a Goalie in a single game in Ohio. He is exceptionally coachable and driven to improve being accountable, and receptive to feedback. Gabe has consistently kept our team competitive in games we had no business being in consistently demonstrating composure, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship under pressure. A trusted teammate and natural leader, Gabe listens well, supports others, and values people regardless of age or background. He volunteers each summer with Builders for Christ constructing churches across the country and regularly offers free tutoring in Latin, Calculus, and History. Gabe will continue his development at Cedarville University, where he plans to study Civil Engineering and Theology. Gabe Horsman represents humility, character, and servant leadership in everything he does, making him a truly deserving for this award.
