Countdown to Hobey:

Elise Mavrinac

2026 | Michigan |

Northville High School | Mustangs |

Freshman year: Elise Mavrinac, a resilient, focused leader, made the decision to get out of her comfort zone and play Ice Hockey. 3 years later she became our first underclassmen to be selected Captain playing goalie, respected by our opponents and adored by her teammates. Senior year: To give our freshman goalie an opportunity, Elise chose to play out. At forward, her integrity was on display as the girl who learned to skate just 3 years earlier, scored a goal & assisted on the game clinching goal in the finals leading her team to their first state championship in our 24 year program history. What impresses me most is her humility, communication and willingness to grow. Elise’s remarkable character, exceptional listening skills and empathy seems to fuel her ability to try new things and overcome challenges. In addition to her numerous academic, creative and athletic accomplishments, Elise’s dedication and commitment to achieve her goals while giving back is visible teaching tennis and leading Kids Club at an elementary school. We agree that character builds excellence and her determination, ability to show up, be a good friend and get better every day is awesome. Getting to watch her grow as an athlete and as an individual has been a pleasure and a privilege. Elise is a wonderful person and I wholeheartedly endorse her for the 2026 Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
In gratitude,
