Anneke Linser
2018 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Centennial | Cougars | GIRLS
Anneke is a great student, hockey player, sister, teammate and most importantly, person. She is the epitome of what it means to put the team above yourself. Anneke will always do what is right regardless of how it effects her. I’ve seen her true morals and values over the last five years that I have coached her. If there is one person on the team that every player trusts and confides in, it would be Anneke. Without having good values on a team, it’s hard to be successful and over the last five years, we’ve had a lot of success on our team and I think that starts with Anneke helping shape the core values of our team for the better. I feel grateful to be able to come to the rink every day and coach a player and person like Anneke. I learn a lot from her about life and how to treat people just watching the way she lives every day. Over the course of the years, I’ve seen Anneke rise to every occasion. No challenge is too big for her to overcome and in times of not succeeding, she always handles with great sportsmanship.
Anneke prefers to be a playmaker and to set her teammates up when she has the pure goal scoring abilities. Her work ethic is a huge contributor to all the success she has had.
Anneke is extremely humble and feels awkward when any moment comes where she is in the spotlight. However, I know how much receiving this award would mean to her as she takes pride in being the best possible person she can be. Shes strives to be a positive role model not only in hockey but in life. On the bench, in the locker room and away from the rink, Anneke takes pride in leading by example in what is morally and ethically right. She also leads by example with her work ethic and her determination to be successful in everything that she does.
Not only does Anneke show leadership in the hockey environment, she also does in the community and in school. She’s a peer leader, mentor and an AVID tutor. Her mentee comes to our games sometimes and you can just see the way the kid interacts with Anneke, how much of an impact she’s made on this kids life already. She understands how important it is to be a good role model to the younger girls so they can strive to be the best they can be in anything that they do.
I feel as though Anneke has been second to receive a lot of awards in her life. I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this award than her.
