Chris LeMire exhibits all of the attributes in consideration for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award, including his ability to exhibit true leadership on a daily basis. As our captain, Chris displays excellent leadership on the ice, setting an example in both practice and games with his continuous effort, skill, and passion for the game. In addition to his leadership on the ice, he excels in the classroom as an Honor Roll student athlete. As a player Chris is a very discipline, skilled, and powerful forward who earns many minutes each game on a regular basis, including power play and penalty kill. Chris’ true competitive nature and leadership qualities set an excellent example for his teammates, classmates, and hockey fans throughout the area. Chris’ overall attitude and character make him an upstanding student athlete, therefore an outstanding candidate for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award. Chris volunteers his time in Escanaba Schools Mo Buddy program tutoring younger students. Chris has also volunteered in the community preparing and delivering Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets during the holiday seasons. Outstanding achievements include varsity letters in football, hockey, and golf. Chris was our team and assistant captain for the 2015-2016 season and our captain for the 2016-2017 season. Chris was awarded 2nd-All Conference for the Great Lakes Conference in the 2015-2016 season, an All State Honorable Mention, and a member of Team Michigan. Chris has been a four year player for the Eskymos earning a team award each year he has participated and also Academic All State accolades each year.
