Maura Fiorenza
2022 | Massachusetts | GIRLS
The Governor’s Academy | The Governor | GIRLS
Maura was a varsity player during the four years she spent at our school. Her hard work both on and off the ice made her our best defenseman long before her senior year. Maura spent extra time on the ice working on her skills and fired pucks regularly in the driveway with her brother. The results were quickly evident as her sophomore campaign began, and she became our most steady “triple threatsâ€_x009d_ – 5v5 – 5v4 – 4v5. Maura logged a ton of minutes as her career unfolded and her skills improved because she was also one of our best students of the game. She took advice without question and offered insight to her peers without an agenda.
Maura challenged herself in the classroom as well and it was here where doors began to open for her. The faculty that worked with her commented regularly on her work ethic, attention to detail and bulletproof character. Maura became a dorm proctor, a two sport captain and was the person most of our players turned to for support and advice. This was also the case even before she became one of our captains this winter. She was very competitive on the ice, and became one of the top players both in our league and in New England during her senior year. Maura played very well during the last two seasons and over the summer, and will be off to Dartmouth College in the fall. They, too, saw the character and development she made, and hopes to continue her growth and development thereover the next four years.
