Katie Robinson
2016 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Dodge County Wildcats Coop Kasson Mantorville | Wildcats | GIRLS
Katie is an extremely driven, disciplined and hard-working athlete. She is very coach-able and is a natural leader both on and off the ice. In addition to being a great athlete, Katie also excels academically. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has a 3.85 GPA. Katie is a talented, big and strong offensive D that will play for the Minnesota Gophers next season. Katie is a great role model and leads by example. This season she is serving her 3rd year as a team captain. Katie is a leader among her peers and is very respected in our locker room, as well as, by opposing players. One aspect not many people outside of our program may be aware of, is Katie’s talent for working with children. Katie is a great mentor to the younger players in the locker room. She has worked several years at the local youth camps, as well as, the OS Hockey Camps for Winny Brodt Brown. Katie also serves as a leader in the “Hockey Buddy” program. This mentoring program pairs high school players with youth players. It emphasizes being a good role model, and encourages recruitment and retention for the sport of girls’ hockey. Katie has also won numerous team awards such as: Rookie of the Year, Spirit of the Wildcat Award, Defensive Player of the Year, and Team MVP.
Katie is a great citizen; academically, athletically and personally. She has been an exemplary student, has had a perfect off-ice record as an athlete and continuously gives back to the community. In addition to her work with the area youth, Katie also volunteers her time at the United Way, Kasson Fire Department, Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, Dodge County Youth Hockey, OS Hockey, and the Relay for Life Cancer Fundraiser. In all my years of coaching, Katie is by far one of the top players I have ever had the opportunity to coach. It would be nice to see an athlete like Katie from southern Minnesota, that is not only a great hockey player, but also a great student and citizen have the honor of being selected as a candidate for Ms. Hockey. Katie is deserving and would be an outstanding representative for not only the south, but all of Minnesota.
