Zander is the quintessential captain for the Byram Hills Ice Hockey team. Not only does he lead by example, but he also acts as the perfect connection between coaches and players. He has also displayed the ability to balance schoolwork and ice hockey. With his intellectual prowess, he is able to dissect plays and discuss them in a constructive manner in the locker room. In the midst of chaos, Zander can always be found calming his younger teammates down and preparing them for the next step. Whether it is a power play or a penalty kill, Zander is the first one on the ice to lead the charge. For all these reasons, and many more, the coaching staff has nominated him for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
