Countdown to Hobey:

Ryan Wendall

2014 | Colorado | BOYS

Heritage High School | Eagles | BOYS

Ryan has been a member of the Heritage High School / Littleton Public schools varsity hockey team for the past two years and I can truly say that he has been a pleasure to coach and get to know Ryan the past two years. Ryan does not have all the physical skills of a top line forward but he has everything that, as a coach you want in a hockey player. He always works hard, he never gives up, he will do whatever he can to help the team and he always wants to know what he can do to get better.

As a hockey player, Ryan’s first year on the varsity team did not provide a lot of ice time but he never gave up. He worked hard throughout the fall of his second year and earned his way into the top 10 forwards and is a top 2 penalty killer. Whenever I need a player to step up and fill in, Ryan is the one I look to. He does all the little things the right way and always works hard.

As a person, Ryan is what the Hobey Baker award is all about. He is an outstanding student, a young man who volunteers his time to the community, possesses outstanding sportsmanship, integrity and displays a positive attitude.

The Hobey Baker award is about character and there is no one player I have coached who displays more character than Ryan.
