Countdown to Hobey:

Eric Carreras

2014 | Pennsylvania | BOYS

West Chester Henderson High School | Warriors | BOYS

Eric Carreras may be one of the best high school hockey players in the state of Pennsylvania.  This is not just based on ability alone, but rather his leadership capabilities on and off the ice.  Eric is the captain of our team, but has been so for his entire high school career regardless of having a letter on his jersey or not.  I have never seen a team rally behind a player like him in my entire life watching and participating in the sport of hockey.  He makes sure the team is focused on and off the ice, helping any student who needs it in the classroom and on the ice.  He knows when to lighten the mood or push the new as they need to be, which helps make the entire coaching staffs job easier.  I watch him every game do everything he can to make sure other players get goals and get points rather than doing it himself, which he so very well could every shift.  He may be the best player to come out of our area that I have ever seen, not on ability or talent, but rather his dedication to the sport and desire to make every team he plays on a class act.  It has been a pleasure knowing him for so many years, and having the privilege of coaching him.  He has succeeded in the classroom tremendously, and made our team a powerhouse for four years, when we probably would not have been otherwise.  That type of character is hard to come by in a person.  He respects the game and everyone involved in it.
