Maura sustained a severe knee injury early in the hockey season requiring major reconstructive surgery. In the 3 months of recovery she never missed a single practice or game excepting the teams travel to Syracuse the day after her surgery. The entire time she kept a positive attitude and encouraged her teammates in times of duress.
