Countdown to Hobey:

Miranda Roelofs

2014 | Minnesota | GIRLS

Willmar High School | Cardinals | GIRLS

As a player of mine, I would count Miranda as one of the most dedicated players that I’ve coached. This statement goes above and beyond the high level of skill and athleticism that she possessed and speaks more to the person that she has become over the time that I have had the pleasure to getting to know her. I was immediately impressed by her work ethic, eagerness to learn, and preparation when I first met her. This stems from a strong commitment and desire to better herself everyday as a person and athlete, which is a tribute to her maturity level and drive to excel.  There is no doubt that the qualities and attributes she brings as an athlete will help her to succeed in her life throughout the rest of her high school career, college and career she pursues after college.

It is quite possible that one of Miranda’s greatest strengths is her ability in leading her teammates on and off the ice.  As a second year head coach, I recall that during the beginning of her senior year, Miranda expressed a desire to take a more active leadership role and took it upon herself to be a positive role model to her teammates before she earned herself the   “C “and becoming one of the team’s captains during her senior year. This example demonstrates a high level of dedication, maturity and sense of responsibility on her part.

In closing, I have always been extremely impressed by Miranda’s dedication and desire to better herself everyday as a leader to her teammates, person, and athlete on and off the field of play.  She is a wonderful reflection on her program to her hockey teammates, in the community, and those who have been fortunate enough to know her.  I thoroughly enjoyed coaching Miranda and developing a friendship with her over the past three years.
