I have had the privilege to coach JT for two seasons now and in both of those seasons, he has been the leader and voice of the team. Because of his strong leadership qualities, I have named JT captain. JT is a very smart player who does not take foolish  penalties and will step up when the game is on the line. The rest of the players on the team look up to JT for his leadership and direction. He knows the right things to say to the players at any time during the game. JT does not just have outstanding character on the ice but off the ice as well. There has been some off ice events in which JT has had to step up and really help out. JT has been able to lead his hockey team, perform well in school, hold a job, and step up off the ice. Because of all of these strong qualities that JT holds, I strongly believe that he will have success in the future in what ever he decides to pursue. I do not believe that there is anyone else more deserving of the Hobey Baker Award this year other than JT Kahn.
