Wissahickon High School Hockey Team | Harry | BOYS
You asked us to tell you a little about our son so that you can get to know him better. How does a really proud parent do that without bragging obnoxiously? Let us just state the facts.
Harrison is a very good student at Wissahickon High School, applying to only 2 colleges, getting into both but committing to Indiana University for fall 2015. He will major in his passion, business. For years he has had his own businesses online, buying and selling sports cards and memorabilia. All along his Wissahickon career he has touched many teachers. They have always made a point to tell us what a great, kind, helpful and caring child we have.
Harry has taken many leadership roles. He has been captain of his own Cancer Society’s Relay For Life team for 2 years. He successfully managed 15-20 teammates. Alone he raised enough money to be among the top 10 fundraisers at the entire event.
Harry is so excited to work at an overnight camp this summer for 8 weeks. He will be a counselor for a bunk of 10-12 boys. He will also be a golf and roller hockey specialist to the entire camp. The management has been anxious to have Harry back, as he has been one of their favorites, and the campers love him too.
Our son loves doing community service. Special Olympics, Jewish Relief Agency, MS Society and of course the Cancer society are among the many that he gladly gives his time and energy to.
Those who know Harry, know that he is passionate about everything he does. Whether it be all of the many sports he plays or the daily morning question “What’s for dinner?” Harrison has played on the WISS Golf team for 4 years, receiving the Most Improved award. He became a role model and respected by all of his teammates. He also played all 4 years on the Ice Hockey team. Even though he got a really late start in the sport, he has become a valuable member of the team. Often times parents will come up to us and tell us something Harry has done for their son, proving his amazing character. (Nolan’s Mom recently told us a really sweet story). He also plays ice hockey for Ice Hawks light travel team at Hatfield. Harrison loves the sport so much that he has earned his Level 1 referee status. Roller Hockey is another favorite. He plays on a men’s league year round.
When it comes to family and friends, Harry is completely devoted. He’s the best brother to both of his siblings. He’s the absolute favorite among the cousins and extended family. “The Pied Piper” is his nickname. He’s incredibly loyal to his friends, new and old. Everybody seems to love Harry and we couldn’t be more proud. He is adventurous, fun and silly, putting a smile on everyone’s face. The amount of compassion that our son has is beyond his years. Not only is he wonderful with the young but fantastic with the elderly. It’s just intuitive for him. He was naturally comfortable with helping his ailing grandfather. He was then emotionally there for all of us during the grieving process. Incredible is the only way we can describe it.
At this point we sincerely apologize… you are terribly bored! We promise we are just stating the facts. Obviously we are beyond proud of the person Harry has become and continues to be.

Head Coach Michael Wolf emailed the following letter to me:
He certainly deserves it. How hard he has worked and how far he has come in a short period of time is remarkable. To top that off he is one of the nicest kids I have ever met and has a huge heart, and is a role model for good sportsmanship and character. I could go on for days but will save that for the banquet. I know you are very proud of him, and you certainly should be. You have done a remarkable job raising him and I only wish that there were more kids in the world like him! Regardless of what he decides to do with himself in life, I know that he will be very successful and that he will help many others along the way to do the same.
