Tim Kramer is a most deserving recipient of the 2020 Hobey Baker High School Character Award. As a student-athlete, Tim has excelled in the classroom during his two years here at Upper Arlington High School. He is known for his attentive work ethic with all his studies, completing advanced courses in calculus, computer science, history and honors chemistry as well as earning college credit in an English course. Moving into the Upper Arlington district two years ago, a teacher commented that Tim has made ‘one of the smoothest transitions that he had ever witnessed a transfer student make.’
In just his second season at Upper Arlington, Tim was unanimously voted to be one of two Team Captains by the coaching staff – for his lead-by-example leadership style and for always conducting himself in the right manner on and off the ice. Tim was often one of the first players on the ice for practice, and one of the last to leave – constantly working to hone his puck skills, or one on one maneuvers. His play during his Senior season was an excellent model of honoring the game. In 37 games this season, Tim produced 29 goals, 35 assists and 64 points – while garnering only one minor penalty – proof that he played the game the right way, and with the utmost integrity. Tim was the team leader in Power-play Goals (9) and was tied for first in Game Winning Goals (6) on a record-setting Golden Bears team.
In the community, Tim has joined his family as they raise service dogs. Tim has also participated in various team service activities such as working with special needs hockey and the ‘Future Ice Bears’ program.
Tim Kramer has raised the bar to set a new standard for excellence as a student and a hockey player at Upper Arlington. The outstanding strengths of personal character, integrity, leadership, and commitment to his team make Tim Kramer the most deserving Upper Arlington hockey athlete of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
