Hunter Fieweger is the the 2019-20 Cherry Creek Bruins Hobey Baker nominee. Hunter exemplifies the Hobey Baker Award. He has been a two year letter winner for the Bruins and this season’s Alternate Captain. Hunter’s statistics for the season are 19 goals, 12 assists and 27 penalty minutes.
Hunter is a quiet leader in the dressing room who leads by example on the ice. When asked to describe this player, his coaches use words like integrity, commitment to community and outstanding sportsmanship. Hunter regular volunteers in the Colorado Avalanche Learn to Skate Program and is a well respected hockey referee in the community. Hunter has been selected to represent Team Colorado in the 2020 CCM National Invitational Showcase in Plymouth, MN.
Hunter has worked extremely hard academically these past 4 years by taking every available engineering class his high school has to offer. Hunter has worked hard in each of those classes to give him a grade point average in the top third of his class. Hunter was accepted to and currently attends the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus this school year and is taking classes in Advanced Manufacturing and CNC Machining. Because he has excelled in both his engineering classes at Cherokee Trail and at the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus, he is one of the top manufacturing students at the Innovation campus. Hunter has been asked several times by various local businesses, to utilize his manufacturing skills to make items for them. In the fall he will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Grand Canyon University, where he hopes to play hockey on their D1 team.
