It has been a character building year for Immaculate Hockey Program. First-last year the team stayed Co-op with a stronger team forfeiting the playoffs to do the right thing and allow seniors to finish playing with their high school team. This year has been a rebuilding year while struggling to stay in Division 1. The team has done everything in their power from off ice, video, strength training to compete with the great teams in Connecticut. Joe has lead this charge on ice and in the locker room. We did not back down from a challenge and built a very tough schedule that would challenge any team. We have made every game a competition even with less depth than any other team in Connecticut. Many teams have the opportunity to move up even after winning their division. However they chose to win over moving up and competition. It takes character to compete day in and day out. It take character to drive your team inside the locker room to believe in what they are doing in the HS league. This is what Joe brings. He fires up the locker room making each player to believe. He takes player that just started playing hockey 2 years ago and gets them to love the game forever. Joe even got players that had quite the game to come back their senior year and put the skates back on. Joe made it a requirement for the players to attend other school sports to support soccer, basketball, field hockey. To me character isn’t just being a star on the ice which Joe is as our leading scorer, but it’s using your talent and love for the game to leave a legacy. Character makes player who gave up the game come back and encourage new players to love the game. Hockey is life and character is legacy.
