When I think of David the words that come to mind are honesty, integrity, and accountability. He is a fabulous leader and role model for our players and has earned the respect of every one of our players and coach.es. On the ice, he is a tough, hard-nosed, talented player who accepts every challenge sent his way and at the same time demonstrates compassion and support for all of his teammates. Showing a maturity far beyond his years, he has constantly shown our players, especially our younger players, how to handle all types of different situations both in and out of the rink. A great example of this is he recently had to miss 6 games due to an injury. Not only did he attend every game and practice to support his teammates, but he even dressed for one of the games, knowing he couldn’t play, just to support his teammates. His maturity and accountability were also evident earlier in the season when our opponents had scored a goal that I thought could’ve gone in off a high stick. As I started to call the referee over to ask him about the high stick, David skated right over and said “coach it went in off of my stick” and then headed right back out on the ice. He could have easily let me go ahead and talk to the referee and hoped that no one else knew it went in off of him. Instead, he did the right thing that demonstrated sportsmanship, integrity and honesty.
