Lam Vu walked on to our first skating session 4 years ago, as a freshman, with zero hockey experience, and his skating ability was not strong at all. To the extent, for safety reasons (our league is full contact), I could not allow him to play in games. I offered him the opportunity to practice with the team each week, and he also signed himself up for skating lessons to improve his skating. In 15 years of coaching, I have not met someone more driven and motivated to get himself into the line-up. His passion for the game transcends his work on the ice. Lam also does an amazing job updating our social media pages during the season and in the off season. He certainly keeps our program “relevant” during the season with some amazing digital artwork about our players, alumni and overall program. He is extremely well liked by all his teammates and has become the heat and soul of our hockey program at Valley.
