Payton Puente is a four year veteran of the New York State Public High School Division 1 Massena Red Raiders Hockey Team. Over his time with the program, Payton has continually grown and matured, not only as a hockey player, but as a person. He has always exemplified what it means to be a good teammate, always striving to do whatever it takes to try and help make everyone successful and he has been a very coachable player.

After having an extremely limited sophomore year due to the global pandemic and a partially normal Junior season, Payton stayed positive and continued to do the things that were necessary to try and keep his teammates focused for this season. Throughout the campaign he led by example both on and off the ice, constantly maintaining communications between Coaches and Players, ensuring everyone maintained academic eligibility and continually worked at creating a positive team environment. He is truly a person of high character who possesses a strong work ethic and maintains a high level of commitment to the Massena High School hockey program and to his teammates. While the season was not easy for him, he stayed committed to his mission and continually displayed the positive aspects of competitive athletics through the adversity.
