Cody Sanderson

Ludlow High School | Lions | BOYS
I would like to nominate Cody Sanderson, a senior from Ludlow High School, as my choice for the Hobey Baker Character Award.
Cody is a high school hockey coaches dream. Not only is he an outstanding hockey player, he is a young man of high character and sportsmanship, as well as the perfect example of a student-athlete.
Cody is one of the most coachable young men I have had the pleasure to work with in my 37 years of coaching high school hockey. He is an excellent “defensive-defenseman”, having filled that role for the past four years. He has unselfishly taken on that task while often being matched against our opponents top players. He excels at making good decisions with and without the puck on his stick. Over his four seasons of varsity hockey, he has taken only ONE minor penalty, all while playing a regular shift since his freshman year.
Aside from his on-ice demonstration of sportsmanship, he has demonstrated character by being one of my players who actively participates in a group from our team which supports the local MS walk, raising funds for Multiple Sclerosis research. He has always demonstrated a willingness to help others.
Finally, he is an outstanding student-athlete who has been on the Ludlow High School High Honor Roll for every marking term of his educational career. He is one I never have to consider losing from our team when grades come out.
For the above reasons, I feel Cody Sanderson makes for a prime candidate to be the recipient of the Hobey Baker Character Award.
