The key areas of character that define Jared Nielsen are self-sacrifice and teamwork. Throughout his tenure at the Woodstock Academy, Jared has sacrificed his own comfort for the overall success of the team. Jared is a natural center who was asked to move to defense during his sophomore year. That year he formed a strong defensive partnership with one of our graduating seniors and helped lead the team from the back-end on the penalty kill. As a junior, he was given an opportunity up front and managed to set career totals in points while moving back to his natural position. Once again, as a senior, Jared has been asked to move back to defense to solidify the blue line and bring a calming presence to the defensive core. Jared is always willing to do what’s best for the team to win and is willing to put himself in difficult situations and accomplish his goals.
