Payton has been the unquestionable leader of our team both on and off the ice this season. Payton has led our team in time on ice, is 3rd in goals scored, 1st in assists, and 2nd in total points as our #1 defenseman this season. Payton has modeled leadership both on and off the ice exemplified by his effort in practice and his work away from the rink. He has always handled himself to the highest standard of respect for our opponents, and models this behavior for all of his teammates. Payton is an excellent overall athlete, as well, outside of hockey as proven by his plans to continue his athletic career playing collegiate baseball after graduation this spring. Payton has always exemplified the principles of this award from the moment he joined our program.
