Zach Gilbert is an excellent example of characteristic celebrated by the Hobey Baker Award.  Zach was an Assistant Captain of the team and always put in 100% effort at every practice and game.  Additionally, Zach is a leader in the locker room where he was a leader expecting everyone to contribute whatever he/she could contribute to the team.  He is humble never bragging or putting himself above others. He was asked to play defense this year after years of playing center. He accepted the assignment and excelled at his position.  He always listen to and respected the coaches and demonstrated poise in difficult situations on the ice and on the bench.  Zach is planning on attending Duke University. He is ranked among the very best students at Coral Glades High School academically.  Zach will continue to be an example of Hobey Baker long after his high school hockey career ends.
