It is with great pleasure that I write this Hobey Baker nomination letter for Jake Titone.

Throughout Jake’s hockey career at Lasalle, he symbolized the hard work and dedication; mentality and physicality that it takes to be a coachable hockey player. As a coach or a teammate, Jake is the player everyone wants on their bench.

Jake loves the sport of ice hockey and the healthy competition that comes with it. His ability to understand the game, where he needs to be and most importantly to give one hundred percent is a huge asset to any team he plays for. He sees the ice extraordinarily well and is always willing to give the younger defensemen constructive advice in the locker room after games. His leadership, unselfishness, mental aptitude, drive and teamwork will take him far, on and off the ice. I am excited to see Jake continue to grow as a young man and athlete.

One of Jake’s greatest attributes is his ability to always see the positive in any situation. I often looked to his optimism to motivate his teammates after a tough loss. He had a subtle way to lighten the mood, point out the positives and communicate how to move forward. This is a leadership trait that cannot be taught. It is part of his character. Jake is a natural leader and no doubt will make a meaningful impact on everyone he meets and with anything he does.
