Garrett Alderman is a most deserving recipient of the 2021 Hobey Baker High School Character Award . As a student athlete Garrett has excelled in the classroom . He is dedicated to his studies and has achieved First Team All Academic recognition in our Capital Hockey Conference (CHC)in 4 successive years
As a goalie Garrett has been recognized by Ohio varsity high school coaches as First team All Ohio during the the 2019 season as he led our U A team to a record 36-1-1 season . This past season he has been voted top goalie in the CHC and led our team to the State Frozen 4 with a GAA of 2.02 and a save percentage of .932 . In addition he is the Golden Bears’ All Time Career Shut Out Leader with 22 shut outs .
Garrett is a quiet inspirational leader and was a unanimous choice by the coaching staff to be one of our captains in his senior year . The team realizes his commitment to his craft with his work ethic at practice and inspires the rest of the team to follow his example
In the community he has been instrumental in working with special needs Columbus Blue Jacket Hockey and has encouraged his teammates to join him throughout the past number of seasons .
Garrett has set the standard for goal keeping at Upper Arlington High School . Given his excellent play , leadership , scholarship and volunteering with special needs hockey , Garrett Alderman is most deserving of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award for 2021
