George DiNapoli exemplifies what the Hobey Baker Award recipient resembles. A young man who not only loves the sport of ice hockey but equally cares for every one of his teammates. George’s greatest strength as a senior captain of the Terriers Hockey Team are his actions on and off the ice which are guided by his character and integrity. George’s interactions with teammates, coaches, officials and opponents are one of mutual respect and honesty. As his coach, I often look to George, as I greatly respect his opinion and perspective on our team chemistry as well as strategy. He truly is selfless, never complaining or feeling deserving. Amidst our pandemic season George has had to make many sacrifices, again putting the team before himself, quarantining, and cheering from his home. George being one of the first ever captains of the Terriers Hockey Team their inaugural season has helped cultivate a culture of commitment, compassion, and unity. His impact on the team is immeasurable and we can’t think of a more deserving player of the prestigious Hobey Baker Award.
