Jonny suffered a season ending injury one week into his junior season, but that didn’t stop him from helping with the younger players on the team. Without the chance to play Jonny was still emotionally invested in every practice and game and helped his team from off the ice by either sharing his experiences or by being a positive influence when needed.
Heading into this season Jonny had opportunities to play elsewhere, but he really wanted to finish what he started and play for his hometown team. Playing during a pandemic where everything is uncertain and the challenges seem overwhelming, Jonny has always been that steadying voice on our team off the ice, while leading by example on the ice. Jonny has surpassed all of our expectations and displays all of the core values the Hobey Baker Award was founded, and would be an excellent choice to receive this prestigious award.
