Mackenzie Henning
2022 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Eastview | Lightning | GIRLS
Mackenzie has been part of our Eastview girl’s hockey team since 9th grade. She played on the junior varsity in 9th, 10th and 11th grade. She always worked her hardest and never asked what she needed to do to play varsity. She just kept on working her hardest each and every day. Mackenzie is a defenseman, but played forward at times on the junior varsity. Again, never questioning her coaches on why she played forward. She just went out there and tried her hardest. Fast forward to her senior year and Mackenzie made the varsity team. She didn’t get a lot of playing time as the 5th defenseman, but just kept working her hardest, paid attention to details and played to the best of her ability. With everything going on with COVID, Mackenzie played wing for several games and did a great job, then she played defense in a top four role the last half of the season. Just like she had done for her entire high school career, Mackenzie just worked her hardest, paid attention to details and played smart all the time. The last half of the season she had the best plus/minus on our team. Mackenzie’s work ethic, team first mentality and her drive are why she has been selected as Eastview’s High School Character Award Nomination.
