Kate has been a three year captain for us at Austin and has had many awards for her on ice performance. It is what Kate does off the ice and in the locker room that makes her a good candidate for this award.

For the past five years Kate has been on the varsity team in Austin. While on the team Kate has always been the person welcoming the new players as they become part of the team. She will give these kids rides to practice and take them out to eat to get to know them. As Kate has become a captain she will often help out any kid in the locker room if they are having trouble in school with their academics, often offering tutoring if they would like it.

During the season Kate has organized our fundraiser for Paint the town Pink in Austin. This fundraiser raises money for cancer research at the Hormel Institute in Austin. This year they raffled off baskets to raise the money. In the past Kate has helped out with both the 10U and 12U teams when she could. We have recently had some kids that come from tough living and Kate has gone out of her way to make sure they don’t feel left out.
