As David’s high school ice hockey coach, I am nominating him for the Hobey Baker High School Character Award based on several traits that make him a worthy recipient.

As a senior, David was voted captain by his teammates and has been an inspiration to the team.  Whether it is playing through injuries or skipping the league’s all-star game to come to a team practice, he has done everything and more to out the team first. In spite of his team-first mentality, he has lead the team in scoring this year and is our top defensive forward.  Our team would not have finished first this year without his contributions both on and off the ice.

Additionally, David is a terrific student and his cumulative GPA is 3.7/4.0 and he is an active member of the school’s debate team.  Most importantly, he also gives back to the community in various projects, but is most proud of the work he has done with the Appalachian Service Project, where he has spent the last 4 summers as a volunteer fixing houses for under privileged families in West Virginia area.  Lastly, in 2015, he was presented with the President’s volunteer service award.
