Anthony Banack is the epitome of everything the Hobey Baker Character Award stands for.  He is a focused and committed athlete that trains and competes both when others are looking and when they are not.  As such, Anthony is extremely coachable and always looking for an avenue to improve his skill and effectiveness.  During off-ice conditioning, Anthony routinely selects an underclassman as his workout partner and pushes him to become stronger and faster.  On the ice he motivates others to give their maximum effort through encouragement and example.  

Anthony is a tremendous mentor for our young players, providing them advice on how to play the game and how to conduct themselves both on and off the ice.  Anthony’s commitment to excellence caught the eye of the Andover HS principal who, after witnessing him interact with some younger students, selected him to give a presentation to over 800 underclassmen on the importance of making good decisions and having pride in our school.

Anthony is a great student whose classroom standards meet and exceed his athletic ones.  He maintains a 3.95 GPA while taking the most challenging classes offered.  His instructors routinely comment on Anthony’s positive outlook and maturity in the classroom.  

Anthony Banack displays all the characteristics and traits that one would want in a student-athlete.  It is an honor to nominate him for this award.
