Josh Airey
2014 | Maryland | BOYS
Linganore High School | Lancers | BOYS
I am proud to recommend Josh Airey, for the 2013-14 Hobey Baker Award. Josh is a highly intelligent, perceptive and engaging young man. I first began coaching him in the fall of 2010. Josh’s leadership and personality were obvious from the beginning and his passion for the game of hockey permeated every team he played on. He has progressed not only as a player, but as a leader on the team over the past 4 years. Josh will finish his High School hockey career as a 3-yr letter winner and team captain. He grew in character, in depth of understanding and in his ability to influence others to accomplish team objectives.
Josh is an excellent leader and people naturally gravitate to him. He was selected as team captain by his teammates and coaches. He is a very mature young man and the other players on the team look to him for leadership. Josh led the team through many wins, but it was the losses where his character showed through the best. He always remained positive, encouraging the team forward no matter what the outcome of the game.
Josh’s integrity is beyond reproach. He sets the example in this regard in the way he carries himself on a daily basis. He has learned that the manner with which you treat others will be reciprocated and he ensures that he is honest in all his actions. This contributes greatly to the manner in which the team trusts him, as they know he trusts them.
I highly recommend Josh for this Award. He will continue to develop as a student, as a leader, and will contribute greatly to our society in the future. I have always been proud to have Josh on our Linganore H.S. team and to watch his progress within the sport of hockey and life.
